I've had a few people tell me that no matter how hard they try, they simply can't get their fire starter bracelet to make sparks. At first we chalked this up to "hand eye coordination" but then I realized something. They were not using the scraper properly.
How to start a Fire With a Paracord Bracelet
First Take Off Your Bracelet
Your bracelet has a scraper and a fire rod in the buckle. You need to use the sharp end of the scraper to strike the middle rod of your bracelet.
Creating a Spark
Your scraper has two sides. One side gradually gets sharper, the other side is immediately sharp.
In this case, you want to use the sharp end not the gradual end.
Use the Sharp End To Strike the Rod
Now use the sharp end of the scraper to strike the rod.
As you can see, you don't need much force at all to get a nice ignition.
For optimal results, gather enough tinder and kindling to make a small bird's nest that catch the sparks.
