5 DIY Mosquito Repellent Survival Hacks

Getting rid of Mosquitos can be a daunting task. They always seem to find a way into my bedroom or tent. Then those miniature vampires try to drain me leaving painful bites behind.

That's why in today's survival hacks we're talking about how to naturally repel these awful insects. Video here.

5 DIY Mosquito Repellent Survival Hacks

1. Camphur Cubes and Water

According to Web MD Camphor used to be made by distilling the bark and wood of the camphor tree. Today, camphor is chemically manufactured from turpentine oil. It is used in products such as Vicks VapoRub.

Take a couple cubes of this stuff and put it in a bowl of water. Then put that bowl of water under your bed or out of the way. The smells will attract mosquitos who will then drown.

2.  Burn Neem Leaves

This is a good one if you're camping. Mosquitos dislike the smell of the leaf and burning them in your fire place or campfire will keep them from intruding your camp. These leaves are also used for air sanitizers.

3. Smoking Egg Carton

Set fire to an egg carton and let it smolder.

Mosquitos hate the smell and the thick smoke it produces.

4. Dry Tea Leaves

Leave tea leaves out in the sun to dry them out.

Then burn them when you've got a mosquito problem and see how fast they disappear.

5. Yellow Light

Mosquitos can't stand yellow light.

Use yellow cellophane paper to cover up your light sources. This could be a night light, lantern, or tactical flashlight. It really doesn't matter, as long as the paper is covering up the area. Do not place the paper directly onto light bulbs, as the paper will start to melt.
