When you're out in the wilderness with limited resources, you need to know which direction civilization is in. Otherwise, you're going to find yourself in even deeper trouble, and without food or water. That's why it's important to know how to create your own kind of compass.
How to make a DIY Survival Compass
First you'll need the following:
- Cup of water
- Needle (or any metal object that sticks to a magnet)
- Survival Knife
- Small piece of paper or leaf
Magnetize The Needle
First you will want to use your knife to scrape downward on your needle. You will want to do this up to 100 times.
This will give your needle a magnetic charge.
Your Needle Needs a Raft
Now use a leaf or cut out a small round piece of paper that is slighter smaller than your needle.
Let the needle orient itself
Now place your little raft in the cup of water and watch as the needle adjusts itself for
North and South.
