You might be scratching your head right now wondering why on earth anyone would cook an egg with a potato. Well, you might have forgotten your camping mess kit, and you may have forgotten to pack aluminum foil.
This might not be a "survival" recipe since you do have to use a potato in order to cook the egg, but if you don't remove too much, it'll be like eating eggs and potatoes with minimal waste.
How To Cook an Egg With a Potato
1. Cut off the lid
Cut the top of the potato off (the long way). This will be your lid.
2. Hollow out the Potato
Use a spoon of spork to cut out the center of the potato.
3. Crack the Egg into the Potato
Now crack your egg and make sure you don't get any egg shells in your makeshift pot.
4. Create a Lid
Use matches, sticks, or toothpicks to make a lid out of the top of your potato. This is so you can pull it off once it's been cooked.
5. Cook the Egg
Place the potato in some hot coal and embers. The potato doesn't need a flame to cook the egg. This should take 15 - 30 minutes.
6. Retrieve Potato
Pull the potato out of the embers after 15 - 20 minutes and remove the lid.
7. Eat that delicious Egg
Now use your spoon to dig out that delicious egg and potato.
