Does Your EDC Kit Have Self Defense Tools?

When you're putting together your EDC Kit, you'll want to make sure you have something in there for self defense.  It's best to plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Doesn't have to be fancy

Your personal protection item doesn't need to be fancy or bulky.

it just needs to get the job done.

A lot of people are fine using a pocket knife or a military flashlight for their defense needs - and they're suitable for aggressive dogs and certain physical attacks, but limited in their abilities.

Smaller and lighter weapons have advantages over bulky items

Smaller weaps like the Tactical Pen or Kubotans are good because:

  • They're lighter
  • They won't do permanent damage
  • You don't need a carry permit
  • They don't require a lot of practice

A large attacker can easily be subdued by using the kuboton glass breaker tip to target pressure points.

No bullet holes, no court case, and you kept your wallet

You can see in this video that it doesn't take a lot of pressure to make this tool effectively stop an attack.

Don't overthink it

The self defense portion of your EDC gear should be something you're comfortable with. If that means you live in an area or have an occupation where a firearm is necessary then that's OK.

But if you prefer putting a mugger in the clinic and not the morgue, you can always try the kubotan
